Emmanuel’s father drowned in the Nile River in 2012 while fishing. It is believed that he was eaten by a crocodile. His mother is a vulnerable widow and cannot support her children in their education. Emmanuel wants to be a doctor when he grows up. He says he wants to be a peace transformer because the country is going through so many problems and needs unity.

 

Enoch Manasseh

Age: 8 Sex: MALE

Tribe: Madi

Enoch’s father was taken to Bentiu as a soldier and has not been seen or heard from for seven years. It is believed that he was killed in the war. Enoch’s mother is not in her right mind, so he and his four siblings are under the care of their grandmother. Enoch wants to be a doctor when he grows up. He says war is a big problem in South Sudan and everyone needs to work to be peacekeepers.

 

Joel Mogga

Age: 12 Sex: Male

Village: Mugasa

Tribe: Madi

Joel is an orphan being looked after by a disabled widow who is not able to send him to school. Joel wants to be a doctor when he grows up. He says he would like to work for peace in South Sudan because war has devastated the country and it needs people who want peace.

 

Dout Majak

Age: 12 Sex: Male

Village: Abila- Nmlule

Original Village: Bor

Tribe: Dinka

Dout is an orphan who needs help to attend school. He would like to be an engineer when he grows up. He says he wants to be a peace transformer and uphold diversity in South Sudan.

 

Ivan Kenyi

Age: 6 Sex: Male

Village: Abila- Nimule

Original Village: Kajo Keji

Tribe: Kuku

Ivan lives with his mother who cannot afford to send him to school. His father is deceased. He would like to grow up to be an entrepreneur. He says he wants to work towards bringing unity among the different tribes in South Sudan.

 

Amamuru Friday

Age: 10 Sex: Male

Village: Nimule

Tribe: Madi

Amamaru’s parents are farmers, illiterate, and both living with HIV/AIDS. They are struggling to come up with school fees and food for their six children. Amamaru dreams of being a pilot when he grows up. Amamaru says that as a pilot he will be able to see many peaceful places and advocate for a peaceful South Sudan.

 

Angua Patience Obedmont

Age: 10 Sex: Female

Village: Nimule

Tribe: Madi

Angua is a bright girl who has recently returned from the refugee camp. She currently lives with her aunt. She has been undergoing many hardships and has been unable to go to school. Angua’s biological parents are uneducated and living in poverty and are unable to support her. Angua says she would like to help bring peace to South Sudan through helping people accept diversity.

 

Eimani Gloria

Age: 15 Sex: Female

Village: Anzara- Nimule

Original Village: Anzara- Nimule

Tribe: Madi

Eimani lives with her elderly mother. Her father passed away five years ago. The family is facing many challenges. They often go without food and there is no money for schooling or other necessities. Eimani would like to study financial management and become a banker when she grows up. She says she would like to help transform South Sudan by helping the people realize the importance of unity in the nation.

 

Florence Abee

Age: 14 sex: Female

Village: Abila- Nimule

Original Village: Magwi

Tribe: Acholi

Florence is an orphan who lives with her aunt. Unfortunately her aunt is unable to afford to support her in school. Florence would like to be a doctor when she grows up. She says that by working toward peace in South Sudan she will help spread happiness among the people.

 

Keji Sharon

Age: 12 Sex: Female

Village: Nimule

Original Village: Arapi

Tribe: Madi

Keji’s father is deceased and her mother suffers from HIV/AIDS. Due to her poor health, Keji’s mother faces a lot of challenges taking care of her children. Keji is very active in her church and very bright in school as well. However, she needs support to reach her dreams. She wants to be a nurse when she grows up so she can help South Sudan achieve peace from grassroots.

 

Sharon Gifty Bismark

Age: 16 Sex: Female

Village: Obbo

Marcello is an orphan living with his elderly grandmother. He and his brother Ladu Dominic spend most of their time out on the streets with no one to take care of them. Marcello wants to become a doctor when he grows up. He says he wants to help build peace in South Sudan through advocacy.

Stephen’s father is deceased, and his mother is unable to support his education. He would like to be a doctor when he grows up. He says he would like to work towards peace in South Sudan and encourage people to accept diversity.

 

Mary Baako

Age: 15 Sex: Female

Village: Malakia East

Original Village: Mugali (Parogua)

Tribe: Madi

Both Mary’s parents are unemployed and cannot afford to send her to school. Mary and her mother are currently living on their church property, as they have no other accommodations. Mary dreams of one day becoming a nurse. She says she wants to care for sick people from different tribes and help bring about healing while communicating the message of peace to patients in the hospital.
